Hello!

A bit about me:

I grew up around my hometown newspaper and gleaned from my family a love of people, community and stories. That foundation fuels me today as I fuse my background in journalism and communications with my passion for community and social change.

After spending a decade of my career as a community newspaper reporter, nonprofit volunteer coordinator and public relations professional, my latest adventure is working as a professional writer and communications consultant focused on topics related to community, lifestyle, social change and travel.

One of my most formative experiences was interning at an alternative weekly newspaper in Mississippi. The Southern writer I lived with taught me a life philosophy that continues to inspire me today. “Barefootin'” means releasing your fears and getting your feet muddy – being immersed in something deeper than yourself.

Activism, adventures and events make me tick, whether I'm writing a feature story about women changemakers around the world, planning a trip to visit my sister in Cape Town, South Africa, or organizing the next Social Justice Karaoke night in my household’s funky disco basement. I love making connections and building community.

Please email me at LKAnderson6@gmail.com to connect – I love coffee, tea and happy hour get-togethers (perhaps virtually during the pandemic)!
